Board Break
The annual Martial Artists for Children and Community Foundation Board Break-A-Thon is the biggest fundraising event of the year for our non-profit. Bringing together martial artists from local schools and clubs, we host a fun-filled day of breaking boards in the name of supporting the local communities through the MACC Foundation. In years past, this event has raised funds to purchase books and gifts for local 1st Grade classes at low-income schools around Christmas to help spread some cheer during the holidays for them to share with their classmates, teachers, and their families.
The board break fundraiser is also a way for us to show off some of our local martial artists’ skills and share them with the public. The MACC Foundation prides itself on physical fitness as it is closely affiliated with Martial Arts America Tae Kwon Do school and has many black belts volunteering on its board. Fitness is important for all lifestyles and this is the main way we can share what we and our fellow students practice year-round with the public AND be able to raise some money for great causes at the same time.
Each donation typically corresponds to a number of boards to be broken. For example, grandma may donate $10 for Jimmy to break 10 boards or grandpa may donate $10 for Suzie to break 20 boards. Regardless of the donations, the MACC Foundation provides enough boards to be broken so everyone, including friends, family, and spectators, can break. The event is always open to the public and public participation is strongly encouraged! Breaking a board is a great confidence boost and its even better when it is being done for a good cause!
MACC Foundation’s Board Break-A-Thon has been hosted every year since May 2008. We look forward to continuing this tradition for as many years to come as possible. As long as good people like you help us out, we know and look forward to keeping the tradition alive and bigger and better each year. Thanks for your support!
